Nature in the municipality Weert

The municipality of Weert was named the greenest region in the world in 2014 – and with good reason!

The town of Weert is surrounded by nature, with lots of green spaces – especially on the outskirts of the town.

One unique green space is the border park Kempen~Broek that extends by way of the Belgian border through the municipality of Weert and right into Nederweert. The recreational area called the IJzeren Man forms part of this.

Other areas of woodland include Boshoverheide, Laurabos and Wijffelterbroek. The Weert countryside is home to lots of different species of plants and animals.

The mix of cultural landscapes and nature reserves creates interesting scenery that is the ideal backdrop for walking, cycling and horse riding. But the town itself also has numerous green spaces.
